Do PTE Mock Scores Match the Real Exam?

Mock scores can differ from the real exam for several reasons. This does not mean mock tests are useless. It means you should not treat one mock score as the final truth.

• The scoring model is not exactly the same as Pearson's official scoring system.
• Your microphone, environment, and typing setup may be different.
• Some apps may score speaking, writing, or fluency more strictly or more leniently.
• You may perform differently under real exam pressure.
• One small repeated mistake can affect multiple tasks.

When your mock score is low, ask a better question: which task is pulling my score down?

Do not only look at the overall score. Break it down by task and mistake type. The goal is to find the leak, not to blame the whole app or your whole English ability.

But if you need the most exam-like score check near your test date, an official Pearson mock is usually the safer reference. Even then, treat the score as a signal, not a guarantee.
